Gautam Sen is an Associate Professor and Course Administrator for both the undergraduate programs, Hotel Management and Culinary Arts at IHM-A.
In his early career, Gautam worked for The Park, Kolkata. Later, in 2003 he moved to the ITC Sonar, Kolkata. During his days in ITC, he managed the renowned brand of Indian restaurant Dum Pukht as Executive – Food & Beverage Operations, besides working in other food and beverage service areas. As a certified Six Sigma professional, he was instrumental in implementing Six Sigma quality management processes in food service areas at ITC Sonar, Kolkata. In 2008, he joined the Indian Hotels Company Limited as Restaurant Manager at Taj Bengal, Kolkata and headed the iconic restaurant Sonar Gaon.
As a certified departmental trainer he was always involved in training and development activities for both ITC hotels and Taj Group. Gautam’s passion for training inspired him to join IHM-A in 2008. At the Institute, he is imparting education in the area of food & beverage operations, enterprise development, hospitality marketing and event management. Besides teaching he also carried out the responsibility of being the Program Manager for students in Hotel Management at Foundation to Honours levels. He was instrumental in the roll-out of Industrial Exposure Training Programme designed to offer more concerted learning at the foundation level.
Gautam Sen’s compilation of research interests include emerging trends in the domain of food and beverage, new venture creation in food service sector, organizational learning climate and employee performance, teaching methodology in higher vocational education and entrepreneurship in hospitality & tourism industry. As an alumnus of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad’s Faculty Development Program, he is presently working on curriculum and pedagogy development for entrepreneurship education.
